Do you work with both residential and commercial pools?
Yes. We specialize in residential pools as well as commercial properties such as hotels, apartment communities, and community centers. Our team is trained to handle both.
Do you offer emergency pool service or after-hours calls?
Yes. We understand pool equipment can fail at the worst times. Our team is available for urgent repair calls, including heater breakdowns, leaks, or cloudy/unsafe water issues. We do have surcharges for after hours and weekend emergencies
How often should I have my pool serviced?
For most residential pools, weekly service keeps water safe and equipment running efficiently. Commercial pools often require multiple visits per week due to heavier usage and Health Department requirements.
What does a standard pool service visit include?
Each visit includes water testing and balancing, skimming, brushing, vacuuming, filter checks, equipment inspection, and detailed reporting. We also adjust chemicals on-site to keep your pool safe and crystal clear. We use a full line of eco friendly products in addition to chlorine and pH reducer. Our goal is to minimize harsh chemicals as much as we can
Are you insured and certified?
Yes. SLC Pool Service is fully insured, uses licensed plumbers, and is CPO Certified for your peace of mind.
What is a pool startup and why is it important?
A pool startup is the first 28 days after fresh plaster is applied. During this time, water chemistry and brushing schedules are critical to prevent staining or long-term damage. Our startup service ensures your plaster cures correctly.
Cleaning & Maintenance
How do you handle automatic pool covers during service?
Our technicians are trained to safely clean and operate automatic pool covers. If issues arise during service we will let you know.
How often should filters be cleaned or replaced?
The answer is it depends on bather load and hydraulics. We like to follow PSI more than a typical cadence. At least every three months in most cases though.
What can I do to prevent my pool water from turning green?
Consistent professional service, proper circulation, and balanced chemistry are the keys. We also recommend keeping filters clean and ensuring the pump runs long enough each day. Our team can customize a schedule that prevents algae growth.
Do you provide seasonal openings and winterizations?
Yes. We offer complete spring openings and fall winterizations, including winter cover installs, plumbing blowouts, antifreeze treatments, and startup chemistry adjustments.
Can you remove stains, grime lines, or scaling from my pool?
Yes. We offer specialized stain treatments, tile cleaning, and scaling removal services. If your pool has buildup along the waterline or on tile, we have the tools and products to restore its look. Some stains are trickier and may require advanced remediation.

How do you make sure pool water is safe and balanced?
We use the same test kits that the Utah Health Department use along with professional-grade chemicals. Our technicians adjust sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and stabilizer levels at every visit to keep your pool safe and in compliance with health standards.
What is the difference between chlorine, saltwater, and ozone systems?
- Chlorine pools rely on added sanitizer.
- Saltwater pools generate chlorine automatically from salt, making them gentler on skin and eyes.
